What is Ozone?

Ozone is a gas found in the atmosphere. It is a consists of three oxygen atoms, O3. It shields the earth from the sun's damaging ultraviolet radiation. But the protection granted by Ozone may be disappearing. Scientists have observed a weakening of this shield, what is popularly known as the `hole' in the Ozone layer.
